Robert M. Hartwell is a former Democratic member of the Vermont State Senate, representing the Bennington District from 2006 to 2015. Hartwell announced on June 4, 2014, that he would not be running for re-election in 2014.[1]

Biography

Hartwell has worked as an attorney. He has also served as acting judge for the Windsor Superior Court. He was a realtor for Wells Real Estate and also on the labor counsel for American Can Company.

Hartwell served on the Dorset Selectboard from 2001 to 2004.

Hartwell won re-election in the 2012 election for Vermont State Senate Bennington District. Hartwell was unopposed in the August 28 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]

2010

Hartwell ran for re-election to the 3rd District Seat (Bennington District) in 2010. He ran against Richard Sears in the primary. He defeated Patricia Blair (R), Gerald Woodard (R), and Craig Hill (I) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[2]

On November 4, 2008, Hartwell won re-election by finishing second for the two-seat Bennington District of the Vermont State Senate, receiving 8,975 votes behind Democrat Richard Sears (12,097) and ahead of Republicans Gerald Woodward (5,166) and Ruth Harvie (4,987) and write-ins (34).[2]

Hartwell raised $5,795 for his campaign, against $10,745 by Sears, $5,700 by Woodward, and $6,270 by Harvie.[3]
