Robert Heggie
Robert Heggie is an associate circuit judge for the 21st Circuit Court in Missouri.[1] He was appointed to the court by Governor Jay Nixon (D) on March 24, 2015, to fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Sandra Farragut-Hemphill to the office of circuit judge.[2][3] Heggie faced a retention election on November 8, 2016.[4]
Education
Heggie received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his J.D. from Saint Louis University.[2]
Career
From 1999 until his appointment to the 21st Circuit Court in 2015, Heggie was a partner with the firm of Stewart, Mittleman, Heggie & Henry LLC in St. Louis, Missouri. He also previously practiced law with the firm of Beach, Burcke, Helfers, Mittleman & Stewart LLC.[2]

2016
Missouri held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 2, 2016. The filing deadline for those wishing to run in the primary was March 29, 2016. Judges running in a retention election on November 8 had to file by August 23.[5] Robert Heggie was retained in the Missouri 21st Circuit, Division 42, Associate Judge election with 57.45 percent of the vote. Judicial selection method
The judges of the Missouri Circuit Courts in Clay, Greene, Jackson, Platte, and St. Louis counties and the city of St. Louis are appointed by the governor with the help of a judicial selection commission.[6]
The chief judge of each court is elected by the circuit and associate judges from among the sitting circuit judges.[7]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:
- a U.S. citizen for at least 10 years;
- a qualified state voter for at least three years;
- a resident of the circuit for at least one year;
- licensed to practice law in the state; and
- at least 30 years old.[7]
