Rob Hower is a fourth generation Michigander, research engineer at the University of Michigan and owner of Numed Technologies, a small business that has developed life-changing technologies. A proud faculty union member, Rob also teaches graduate-level classes at Wayne State University. As an active member of his community, Rob knows that we deserve a State Senator who serves all of his constituents and not just wealthy well-connected residents. Unlike his Republican opponent, Rob believes that education, healthcare and a living wage are collective goods that markets alone cannot provide. Rob strongly values hard work, having put himself through college and grad school, often working 80-hour weeks. His core message is that hard work should be rewarded. We need to foster a community in which hard working people can reasonably afford a decent, respectable livelihood.
  • Make sure every student gets a quality education, from preschool through college by increasing funding for public schools and supporting our teachers, school staff and counselors.
  • Make quality healthcare more affordable and accessible by increasing transparency in medical billing and creating more options for low-cost preventive treatments.
  • Keep costs down and make life for Michiganders more affordable by putting people over corporate monopolies and championing a living wage.
I am opposed to data centers for several reasons including pollution (sound, water, air and light), very few permanent jobs, and consumers bearing increased utility costs for the energy required.
