Robert Humphreys was a judge of the Virginia Court of Appeals. He assumed office on April 16, 2000. He left office on December 31, 2023.

Education

Humphreys received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law.[1]

Career

Prior to his judicial career, Humphreys worked as a prosecutor for twenty-two years. He has also served as an assistant attorney general for the State of Delaware, as an assistant commonwealth's attorney in Norfolk, Virginia, and as the chief deputy commonwealth's attorney for Virginia Beach, Virginia. Humphreys also was a partner at the law firm of McCardell, Inman, Benson, Strickler & Humphreys, P.C., and previously served as both a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and as commonwealth's attorney for Virginia Beach from 1999 to 2000 before joining the Virginia Court of Appeals.[2]

The Virginia General Assembly elected Humphreys to a new eight-year term in January 2016.[3]
