Robert Sweeney
Robert K. Sweeney (b. May 29, 1949) is a former Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 11 from a special election in March 1988 to January 1, 2015.
Sweeney did not run for re-election in 2014. Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D) won his seat in the 2014 election.[1]
Biography
Sweeney earned his B.A. from Adelphi University and his MPA from Charles William Post Campus, Long Island University.[2] His professional experience includes working as a certified municipal clerk for the Village of Lindenhurst.

Sweeney ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 11. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. He also ran on the Working Families Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. He defeated Rashad Cureton in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4][5]

Sweeney ran unopposed in the September 14 Democratic primary. He defeated Brett Robinson (R) in the general election on November 2.[6][7] In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, he was also listed as a candidate of the Independence Party of New York State and Working Families Party.

On November 4, 2008, Sweeney won re-election to the New York State Assembly, District 11, defeating opponent James McDonaugh (R).[8][9]
