Career

Robert Knodell has been involved in Missouri politics since 1992. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and has worked on over 200 political campaigns across the state in a variety of capacities ranging from volunteer to campaign manager.[1][2]

Knodell worked in the Missouri Legislature as chief of staff to former Republican Missouri House Speaker Pro Tempore Carl Bearden and as budget and policy advisor to Republican State Representative Allen Icet. He later served as executive director of the Missouri House Republican Campaign Committee from 2007 through 2010. In this role, Knodell worked to increase the number of elected Republicans in the Missouri House of Representatives. Republicans gained 17 seats for a total of 106 seats in the House under Knodell's leadership during the 2010 elections. In 2011, Knodell transitioned to the role of political director for the Republican Party of Missouri. The following year, Knodell co-founded Barklage & Knodell, a corporate strategy and Republican political consulting firm based in St. Louis, Mo. As a partner at Barklage & Knodell, he has worked on a number of political campaigns including former Missouri Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence's 2012 race and Missouri Republican gubernatorial candidate John Brunner's 2016 bid.[2][3][4][5][6]

In 2013, Campaigns & Elections magazine named Knodell to the Influencers 500—a list of key Democratic and Republican political influencers in each state—for his work in Republican Missouri politics.[7]

In December 2015, the Republican leadership of the Missouri House of Representatives chose Knodell to once again serve as executive director of the Missouri House Republican Campaign Committee.[3]
