Candidate Connection

Robert Kuniegel participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 17, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Robert Kuniegel's responses follow below.[1]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

My top three priorities are:

The creation of a non-governmental Electronic Town Hall. Which would give the people a real voice and get civic-minded people involed in the political process.

Fiscal responsibility Government policies are destroying the value of our currency.

Governmental secrecy has created absolute power for some in our government. Absolute power corrupts.[2][3]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Are you most passionate about three issues listed above.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[3]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Robert Kuniegel answered the following:

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow and why?

I have four heroes all lived selfless lives with devotion to humanity. Socrates, Jesus Christ, Theodore Roosevelt, & Nicola Tesla.[3]
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else that best describes your political philosophy?
There is no one book. Books about my heroes are important to me.[3]
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
The characteristics that I believe are important in public servants are: A wished to serve with no thought of reward, honesty & fairness to all.[3]
What qualities do you possess that would make you a successful officeholder?
I believe that I possess the characteristics listed above.[3]
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
The core responsibility of elected officials should be to remove chaos from the world. When their book of life has ended they should leave something of benefit that will justify their reason for sharing this planet.[3]
What legacy would you like to leave?
We can only be three things in this world: a minus, a zero or a plus. The first two are to be avoided. I wish that my life story has more benefit the negatives.[3]
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at that time?
I was 13 years old when JFK was assassinated. I believed the official government lie for about 10 years. I later came to understand that Jim Garrison was correct. Crime that pays is crime that stays so we still have evil forces within our government which needs to be recognized as such.[3]
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
I have been working since before I was a teenager on farms & odd jobs. My first payroll job was in a fireworks factory that I kept part-time for over 20 years. It was a great job because I love to work with my hands and the owner was a great person to work for. I have work factories, Union construction, security at the University of Scranton, State corrections officer, small business owner & and Real estate developer my own rental properties.[3]
What happened on your most awkward date?
What happened on my most awkward date, I do not remember and has no bearing today even if I did remember.[3]
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
My favorite holiday is 4 July. Not sure why maybe because I worked many of them at professional firework shows or maybe because it's a celebration of our countries birth.[3]
What is your favorite book? Why?
My favorite books are a series by James Fenimore Cooper the leather stocking tails. The central character is a totally selfless individual. The books chronicle his life.[3]
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
I have never thought about being a fictional character. Perhaps Hawkeye in the leather stocking tails.[3]
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
The Favorite thing in my home is my easy chair where I read and often write.[3]
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
I do not listen to much music so I cannot say what was the last song that got stuck in my head. But I have a favorite few lines from a song that I often Think of when I do not know the out come to a situation. Kay Sarah Sarah the future's not ours to see Kay Sarah Sarah! What will be! Will be! Kay Sarah Sarah![3]
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
I have struggled to provide for my family and years of hard work has put the struggle behind me.[3]
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
US House of Representatives possesses the opportunity to be of service to the people of America. I feel that it is not taking advantage of this opportunity.[3]
Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
I believe it is most beneficial that a representative of the people be representative of the majority of the people they wish to represent.[3]
What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
The United States greatest challenges are fiscal responsibility & non-intervention with sovereign nations.[3]
If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?
I will serve on any committee that is offered to me it will be a bonus if I get to serve on committees that best suits my interest. Which ever committee I serve on I will have America's interests at heart. When a representative has America's interests at heart they also best represent their constituents.[3]
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
I believe in the Constitution as it was written. Two years is the term of the US House representative.[3]
What are your thoughts on term limits?
I believe the term limits would be a good thing because career politicians cannot be representative of The people they represent. Unless you live among the masses you cannot be representative of that group.[3]
What process do you favor for redistricting?
Redistricting should be compact, it should not split counties cities and municipalities unless population requirements mandates such actions. Following this directive there should at most be only one County, City or municipality be being split.[3]
If you are not currently a member of your party’s leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives, would you be interested in joining the leadership? If so, in what role?
It elected I will be a freshman and party leadership would not be offered to me. But if ever I was asked I would consider it an honor.[3]
Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
There is no particular representative past or present that I would model myself after. Perhaps if I had made a study of house members I could find a few.[3]
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
I have met a number of veterans that have touching stories. One suffered serious multiple injuries in hand-to-hand combat in Vietnam. He has been denied a purple heart because a government building housing military records was destroyed by fire.[3]
