Robert Kurth participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on May 16, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Robert Kurth's responses follow below.[8]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | I believe that a Judge should know and understand the law, be COURTEOUS, have INTEGRITY, LISTEN to your concerns, RESPECT your rights, PROTECT our families, and ENFORCE the Constitution. A judge should not legislate from the bench. I will do these things.[9][10] | ” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | I am passionate about fairness and everyone having their day in court and receiving due process. It is not economically feasible or necessarily good for the person or their family to be locked up for a traffic citation or a non-violent misdemeanor offense. Doing so could have repercussion that negatively affect the person, their family, the justice system, etc. Justice should be applied fairly to all, who come before the Court.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[10]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Robert Kurth answered the following:
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
“ | An elected official should have integrity and understand that they work for the betterment of our community.[10] | ” |
“ | I am running for Justice of the Peace because I care about our community and the place my family calls home. I am in my 26th year practicing law, have judicial experience, and understand how to wade thru the muck and the mire and make a just decision. I will be a Judge, who will LISTEN to your concerns, RESPECT your rights, PROTECT our families, and ENFORCE the Constitution. I will not legislate from the bench. I have the Experience, Integrity, Demeanor, Fairness and Common Sense necessary to be our Justice of the Peace, and will be FAIR in applying justice to all those who come before me.[10] | ” |
“ | To LISTEN to your concerns, RESPECT your rights, PROTECT our families, and ENFORCE the Constitution for all those, who come before the Court.[10] | ” |
“ | Justice Scalia, Justice Rehnquist[10] | ” |
“ | Yes. A judge applies the law to the facts when making a decision. Empathy does play a part in sentencing.[10] | ” |
“ | I have served as an Arbitrator for the Eighth Judicial District Court, where I hear and decide civil cases valued at $50,000.00 or less, which is much higher than the jurisdiction in the Justice Court. I have also served as a Small Claims Court Referee (Judge) and an Alternate Child Support Hearing Master.[10] | ” |
