Robert L. Holloway is a judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Middle Section. He assumed office on August 21, 2014. His current term ends on September 1, 2030.

Holloway ran for re-election for judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Middle Section. He won in the retention election on August 4, 2022.


Holloway was appointed to this position by Republican Governor Bill Haslam on August 21, 2014, to succeed Jeff Bivins, who was elevated to the Tennessee Supreme Court. He faced and won retention by voters in 2016 in order to remain on the bench for the unexpired term of his predecessor.[1][2]

Education

Holloway received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Tennessee in 1974 and 1978, respectively.[3]

Career

Holloway worked in private practice with the firm of Fleming, Holloway, Flynn and Sands. He later worked from 1998 to 1999 as a clerk for Judge James Parrot of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. In 1998, he became a judge on the Twenty-Second Circuit Court. He was re-elected without opposition to that position in 2006 and 2014, before he was appointed to the court of criminal appeals in 2014.[3][4][5][1]
