Robert L. Nahman was a certificated justice for the Supreme Court 11th Judicial District, Civil Term, in Queens County, New York. He was appointed to this position by Gov. David Paterson in 2010 and became a certificated justice in 2011, after reaching the age of mandatory retirement. His last term expired in 2012. He previously served on the Supreme Court bench from 1988 to 1992.[1][2][3]

Nahman attended St. John's University School of Law to earn his J.D.[1][4]

Career

Nahman began his career in 1967 as a law research assistant for the Queens District Attorney's Office. He then worked as an Assistant District Attorney there through 1971. From 1972 to 1981, he served as law secretary to three Supreme Court Justices.

Nahman's judicial career began in 1982, following his election to the New York City Civil Court in Queens County. He served as a Queens County (11th District) Supreme Court Justice from 1988 to 1992 and then as a Queens County Surrogate's Court judge from 1992 to 2010. He was then appointed to return to the Supreme Court.[1]
