Robert Lewis Brown, Sr. (1892-1948) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Montana. He was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on March 12, 1945. He served the District of Montana until his death on April 2, 1948.[1]
Education
Brown received his LL.B. from State University of Montana in 1916.[1]
Professional career
- 1934-1945: Assistant U.S. attorney, District of Montana
- 1932-1934: Assistant county attorney, Silver Bow County, Montana
- 1925-1945: Attorney in private practice
- 1925: Contract miner, Anaconda Copper Mining Company, Butte, Montana
- 1918-1924: Attorney in private practice
- 1916-1918: County attorney, Granite County, Montana[1]
Judicial career
District of Montana
Brown was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on March 12, 1945, to a seat vacated by James Harris Baldwin. He was confirmed by the Senate on March 27, 1945, and received commission on April 7, 1945. Brown served the District of Montana until his death on April 2, 1948.[1] Brown was succeeded in this position by Judge William Murray.
