Robert M. "Mike" Duncan was first elected to serve as the national committeeman of the Republican Party of Kentucky in 1992 and was re-elected to a four-year term in 2016.[1]

Education

Duncan earned degrees from Cumberland College and the University of Kentucky College of Law.[2]

Professional career

Duncan is the president and CEO of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, a national, nonprofit organization that aims to support and promote the use of coal as an energy source. He is also the chairman and CEO of the Inez Deposit Bank in Kentucky, and the chairman of Alice Lloyd College and American Crossroads. Previously, Duncan worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in the Cincinnati branch and at the Kentucky Bankers Association.[2][3]

Political activity

Duncan served as the chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) from 2007 to 2009. He has also previously served as treasurer and general counsel for the RNC.[2]

He served on the campaigns of five U.S. presidents, including Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush. Under George H. W. Bush, he served as assistant director of the Office of Public Liaison in the White House. He was appointed by President George W. Bush to the President’s Commission on White House Fellows in 2001. The younger Bush also appointed him to the Tennessee Valley Authority Board, a position to which he was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate in March 2006.[2][4]

He has also served in various roles with the U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue and with the Center for Rural Development.[2]
