Robert Madden Hill (1928-1987) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.

Education

Hill received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in 1948 and his LL.B. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1950.[1]

Judicial career

Fifth Circuit

Hill was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit by President Ronald Reagan on June 4, 1984, to a seat vacated by John Brown. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 15, 1984, and received commission that same day. He served the Fifth Circuit until his death on October 19, 1987.[1]

Northern District of Texas

Hill was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas by President Richard Nixon on October 7, 1970, to a new seat created by 84 Stat. 294. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 25, 1970, and received commission on December 1, 1970. He served the Northern District of Texas until his elevattion to the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit on July 20, 1984.[1] Hill was succeeded in this position by Sidney Fitzwater.
