Robert Mahan is a former judge on the Iowa Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position in 1997.[1] Judge Mahan retired from the court July 31, 2009 and became a senior status judge until August 31, 2021.[2]

Education

Mahan was born in Carroll, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1969. He earmed his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1973. At the time of his retirement, Mahan was married and had four daughters.[1]

Career

Mahan began his legal career in 1973, practicing with two law firms in Waterloo. He later became a prosecutor in the Black Hawk County attorney's office. In 1978, he was appointed a district associate judge. He was elevated to district judge in 1986 and he held this position until his appointment to the Court of Appeals in 1997.[1]
