|I am a Sales Pro for Modern Toyota of Asheboro and have been in sales for over 20 years. I am also the owner and proprietor of Staley's Secret. A local Airbnb. I am passionate for the quaint town of Staley and aim to maintain the farming and agriculture hub we are with a few small businesses and dedicated to beautifying what we already have in place as well as renovating unused properties.
- Support for our local first responders and ensure our fire department has all the tools they need for our community.
- Backing our farmers by protecting the agricultural land and existing farms
- Keep Staley beautiful and litter free. This means addressing some of the fallen and vacated properties ensuring the safety and eye appeal we love.
I am passionate about making and implementing decisions that the citizens of Staley find important. Have a clear and cohesive path of success for our community.

My very first job was at a local Country Club as a prep cook and dishwasher. I worked for the club almost 3 years before going into fast food for 3 years and back in to the hotel/hospitality as I perused a culinary endeavor.
The first memorable event for me was when Man landed on the Moon. I was about 7 years old and living in Hollywood Florida. I recall the Bold Font headlines to this very day on the front page of the Miami Herald and watching the event live on black %white TV.
My Mom- Mom passed away this last October days after her 85th Birthday. She had a record of succeeding in all she wanted while facing many obstacles and struggles. Never complained and never wavered in her faith in God. I never heard mom speak ill of anyone. her motto was if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. She led Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, was a flight attendant in the late 50's, proficient in shorthand, a successful real estate agent, and over all the most loving, pleasant human being you could ever know. She never gave up on us and always encouraged our goals to succeed.
To include the residents is of the upmost importance. I would maintain an open door policy for the residence of Staley to reach out with concerns as well as hold monthly community meetings on various projects, plans, and exchange ideas/concerns. The residents are the grassroots of the community and while you may not make 100% of the community happy you an make the community a 100% happy place to call home, raise a family, work and grow a small business.
I would like to renovate the old school to a women's Shelter, a temporary safe haven for single moms or in an abusive situation where she can get a fresh start and professional guidance. Expand the Staley Fire Department. Address dilapidated properties and clean up fallen structures while encouraging and assisting others in making there home safe with a positive curb appeal. Encourage a local garden club to beatify the main road coming into Staley. Evaluate existing roads ensuring safety as well as having local paths and sidewalks for residents to use.
I would encourage residents to install security cameras on there homes such as "Ring Cams" (offering grants where needed), enforcing the 35 MPH speed limit through Staley, and making neighbors aware of crime in the community as well as offenders amongst us. A diligent neighborhood watch of neighbors looking out for neighbors.
There is no need to displace any existing resident or business- Roots are planted and some may just need harvesting. As previously stated, Staley is a small town and can be small business friendly. naturally, we would not want a major manufacturing facility that employs 1,000's but a business that employs say 20 or less would be very appropriate. We need to protect the existing farm and agricultural zoned land, while building or rebuilding on land zoned for commercial or residential use.
Downtown Staley is currently "adequate" a healthy downtown is foot traffic friendly, road worthy for motorists, and business easy to navigate to with ample parking. There should be a very positive eye appeal of downtown and that should not deteriorate as you get into the more rural areas. A fresh coat of paint and some foliage can do wonders sometimes.
I don't know that the town of Staley has an approach to public safety- I would like to see services offered to the residents concerning fire safety with working smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, evaluated exit strategies in the event of an emergency. I would like to see the elderly and disabled mapped out so when such events occur a speedy dispatch team is in place to aide those most in need and routine welfare checks on the more vulnerable assuring they have needs met for food, shelter, utilities, medical aide...
Staley is currently policed by the Randolph County Sheriffs and NC Highway patrol. I would like to see a campaign to enforce our local speed limit on a regular basis and where there is know criminal activity a clear and present patrol letting criminals know this is not the town for them to reside or carry out acts of violence and illegal activity.
The residents of Staley need free choice for there own health care and operating of licensed business without interference of government entities. There is not sufficient evidence wearing a mask or shutting down church's and business deters the widespread risk of a virus. Common sense and smart education deters spreading of disease. The people of Staley are smart enough to stay home when sick and would have resources to get help when needed.
The priority is always health and safety first- this is achieved by educating and mentoring. Some folks are naturally challenged or have not received the right information to grow or succeed. the building and establishing one on one relationships on an appropriate level binds a community to work nd grow together changing family trees one by one. Personal responsibility begins with responsible leadership and assuring we all have access to succeed.
Environmental health is a fairly broad scope to arrow down specifics- I lover we have very little "light pollution" in Staley and would definitely keep it that way. Being on well systems, we have to be careful of what we allow to be built and in what fashion it is built. There should not be environmental hazards laying about our community. I refer to things like non running vehicles, boats, unsafe buildings, vacant houses, and the illegal dumping of hazardous materials must be strictly monitored with hefty fines and accountability to clean up.
No. Staley as a whole remained operational and functional
While you have to maintain a level of privacy for both public and private officials, there has to a reasonable expectation for ones privacy. Concerning topics that have a direct impact on the residents and business community need to be readily available with clear and transparent transcripts in a common language.
According to Crimegrade.org Staley has a C+ rating with higher rate on the outskirts and a a lower rate in the main section of town. As I addressed earlier, I would like to offer at home evaluations for residents and assist where the needed, the implementation of security cameras and a clear and present visibility of police in the areas where crime is a problem.
The mayor, being a leader, must do so by example. I have noted here what a clean, healthy, safe environment looks like in my mind. I, personally implement those ideas in my own home with well kept grounds, security cameras, maintain the physical appearance to reflect both visual and environmental concerns as well as home security. when I am not sure about a topic, I feel I am free to reach out to others who are for a learning experience and become educated in that area. being transparent about what you stand for and how you want the best for your community and country is the best place to start. Not reflecting on the past, but looking at today and in to the future.
Staley does not have a city manager or council so to speak. In order to get information you need to call the city hall. There is not an official web site or official email which would be two top priorities so residents will have multiple options to get there concerns or questions answered in a timely fashion. Next, would be a town wide meeting for the community to be heard. submit formal requests in and provide transpiration for those who need it to participate in the meeting so all are included and have quarterly if not monthly follow-ups and or news letters on where we are in the goals of our community.
Being there is not really a City Council, I would work closely with the Volunteer Fire Department members, the county Sheriffs Office, and the residents of Staley forming close bonds with the farmers and business owners.
I really enjoy reading about the history of Staley, You have to dig deep to really get the whole story and I would like a printed book detailing the heritage of the town. there are some great stories to be told and having an official web site would really help preserve that I think.
The biggest challenge I see is a small town fitting in a bigger surrounding environment. For example, the Mega Site is happening, business is coming, people will need places to live, relax, raise families, be safe. Small business will need an avenue to thrive and grow. Both of those need to come together while maintaining the small town motif so as not to be overly commercialized.
Ideally would be an open line of communication and mutual respect. most importantly to have access to grants and funds needed to infrastructure such as wireless internet through out the town, the availability of natural gas, paving of roads. Supporting our local first responders, postal service, and providing the needs of the elderly.
Again, am open line of communication and mutual respect. On a federal level, Small towns need to be relevant as well. When we have successful growth with in our community, that, by logical stance, has to branch out to to other communities and all the way up the ladder.
A positive relationship is crucial to the safety and well being of our community. Educating the citizens and letting them see law enforcement is there to help them not hinder them is very important. Where break-ins and home invasions are becoming more popular, I would like to work with the law enforcement to educate the community of what to do and what not to d in that situation as well as taking preventive measures. Regular well fare checks by designated citizens would be nice once properly vetted.
First of all, one must feel compelled they are called to serve the community, I believe I meet this criteria. Secondly, your character should be one of solid moral standing in the community, having the heart of teacher in order to educate and negotiate on behalf of those you are serving.. Your roots should be planted in the community and have a clear vision of what needs to be done for the betterment of the citizens. One must not waiver on there integrity and always be available to those you represent.
Developing a budget, working with the town manager, seeing local laws are enforced, and building community relationships as well as making line item proposals and vetoing legislation that may not be in the best interest of the community.
One book that comes to mind is not much political as it is fiscal responsibility with spiritual biblical backing is "The Total Money Makeover" as far as political views- I would suggest Constitutional common sense.
having a passion for people and being an effective listener, as well as finding solutions to problems over excuses has proven to bring my careers to a level of success. These same qualities would lead to success with in and for the community.
The legacy I would like to leave is I made Staley, ( great community) just a little better and more tuned. A place where there is something for everyone and neighbors are helping neighbors.
My main struggles have been needing to work and study a little harder to get where I want to be. If there was something I did not know, I tried to learn about through trial and error. If that failed, called in the pros. But I always try to be self sufficient.
Thunder Struck
"The Total Money Makeover" it has literally changed my life and changed how I walk, look at things differently, renewed generosity and hope with in myself.
