Robert Romano was the acting New Jersey Treasurer from July 6, 2015 until November 8, 2015. Ford Scudder was selected as the permanent replacement for former state treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff. Scudder was sworn in on November 9, 2015.[1][2]

After earning his law degree from Rutgers, Romano began a career in public service. He began working as a deputy attorney general in 1990, providing legal assistance to a number of state agencies, including the Department of the Treasury. He remained in this post until 1994, when he became a deputy attorney general section chief. From 2000 to 2003, Romano was an assistant attorney general in the Division of Law. In this capacity, he provided legal advice to a number of clients, including individuals in the Department of the Treasury. Immediately before joining the department himself, he worked as an assistant attorney general in charge of financial affairs. He held this post from 2004 until 2010.[3]

Acting New Jersey Treasurer (2015)

Romano was tapped as New Jersey Treasurer after his predecessor resigned. He was sworn in on July 6, 2015.[1] Romano remained in office until Ford Scudder was appointed to succeed Sidamon-Eristoff.

Deputy New Jersey Treasurer (2010-2015)

Romano served as Sidamon-Eristoff's deputy from 2010 to 2015, advising him on a series of issues including pensions and benefits.[3]
