Education
Judge Sykes received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University. He earned his J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1987.[2]
Career
After graduating from law school, Judge Sykes worked in private practice until he was elected to the bench in 2004.[2]

Sykes was re-elected after running unopposed to the Ionia County Probate Court in 2012.[3][4]
