Robert Seward is a member of the Mesquite Independent School District school board in Texas, representing Place 5. He assumed office in 1993. His current term ends in 2026.

Seward won re-election to the Mesquite Independent School District school board to represent Place 5 in Texas outright after the general election on May 6, 2023, was canceled.

Seward was first elected to the board in 1993, after an unsuccessful attempt in 1991. Seward sought re-election in the general election that was scheduled to be held on May 6, 2017, but it was canceled due to lack of opposition. He won re-election to the board by default.[1]

Seward moved to Mesquite with his family when he was 14 years old and graduated from Mesquite High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of North Texas. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a senior accounting specialist at Luminant, a subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings Company from 1999 to 2016.[2][3]

Three of the seven seats on the Mesquite Independent School District board of trustees were supposed to be up for general election on May 6, 2017, but the election was canceled due to lack of opposition. Incumbents Gary Bingham, Greg Everett, and Robert Seward were re-elected by default to the Place 3, 4, and 5 seats, respectively.[1][4]
