Robert Stokely

Robert Stokely is a magistrate judge for Coweta County, Georgia. He was appointed by Chief Magistrate Judge James C. Stripling and the Superior Court judges of the Coweta Judicial Circuit in 2012, to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Joseph A. Wyant to the Coweta County Juvenile Court. He took office on January 1, 2013. Stripling reappointed Stokely to another four-year term in 2016.[1][2]
Shortly before his initial appointment in 2012, Stokely won election to the District 71 seat in the Georgia House of Representatives. He opted to withdraw from taking the seat in order to accept the magistrate position.[1]
Biography
Stokely earned a B.A. from Georgia State University and a J.D. and master of laws degree from Atlanta Law School. At the time of his appointment to the magistrate court, Stokely was the solicitor for Coweta County. His professional experience also includes work for the Atlanta Gas Light Company, as an attorney in private practice, and as an assistant solicitor and chief assistant solicitor for Coweta County.[3]
Elections
2012
Stokely won election in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 71. He defeated Darryl Marmon in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012, and was unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012.[4][5][6]
