Robert T. Burger
Robert T. Burger was a Brevard County judge of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. Burger was elected on August 26, 2008, defeating incumbent Judge Meryl Allawas.[1][2][3] He was later re-elected without opposition in 2014, winning a six-year term.[4]
In October 2015, the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission sought "involuntary retirement" for Judge Burger due to a permanent disability. In Burger's case the disability was colon cancer, which he began treatment for in January. Chief Judge John D. Galluzzo submitted a letter to the state supreme court confirming that Burger's disability prevented him from performing his judicial duties. Burger waived his right to a hearing.[5][6]
Education
Burger received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida. He was admitted to the bar in 1974.[7]
Career
Prior to serving as judge on the Eighteenth Circuit Court, Burger was a trial lawyer for 33 years.[8]
