Robert Tait Ervin (1863-1949) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama.

He was nominated by President Woodrow Wilson on January 16, 1917, to fill the seat vacated by Harry Theophilus Toulmin. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 23rd, and received commission that same day. On January 23, 1935, he assumed senior status. He continued to serve in this capacity until his death on October 24, 1949. Ervin was succeeded in this position by John McDuffie.[1]

Ervin received his law degree from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1887.[1]
