My wife and I settled our family in Burnsville in 2011. Since then we have welcomed two wonderful sons to our family. I am proud of my ancestral heritage. I am an enrolled member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians (near Bayfield, WI), where my grandmother was born.

I have dedicated my entire career to helping Minnesotans. At the Department of Revenue I audited healthcare companies, tobacco distributors, and worked diligently as a supervisor and manager to ensure each Minnesotan pays only their fair share of taxes, no more and no less.

I also worked for the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA). The OLA is tasked with ensuring each state agency uses public funds appropriately. I performed several audits of healthcare organizations that are responsible for administering the state's Medical Assistance program. In doing so, I helped identify significant pharmaceutical cost savings.

I am Vice Chair of the City of Burnsville's Planning Commission and also serve on the Dakota County Planning Commission.

I have a degree in economics and a certificate in law enforcement.

I am passionate about public service and hope to earn your trust!

  • I will legislate with compassion and equity for all Minnesotans, as these are my core values
  • I will FIGHT for results that affect us locally in Burnsville, Savage, and northwestern Lakeville
  • I will focus on local issues that affect Burnsville, Savage, and northwestern Lakeville
I am passionate about our local community, students, teachers and schools AND I want to fight for all of my neighbors to have equitable access to a single payer healthcare system. In addition, I have two little boys who remind me of the great importance of fighting for even our littlest neighbors, as they will inherit the legacy we leave. I want to be a part of something bigger than me!

My parents were both teachers. I understand the importance of an equitable and fully funded education system that does not rely on property tax to fund our schools. I will work to close the disparity gap by ensuring all children receive a world-class education that meets THEIR needs.

I have over 12 years of leadership experience working FOR taxpayers at the Department of Revenue and Legislative Auditors office. I worked to ensure everyone pays their fair share and government agencies are held accountable. I would like to sit on the tax committee, as I understand our revenue source drives all of our policies and programs.
First and foremost, a Senator must be willing to listen. Listen to constituents individually and in town hall settings. Listen to other legislators and the needs of people across the state.

Second, a Senator must be willing to compromise. Not compromise their integrity, but understand that there are always competing priorities and in order to make progress, sometimes incremental improvement is better than none at all.
I would like for my children to know that I fought for them--and their own future children--to live in a state that cares for EVERYONE.
The first major historical event that impacted me were the events that occurred on September 11, 2001. I was a freshman in college in my first or second week of classes. I hadn't met a lot of people at school yet. The events of that morning brought together students, faculty, and family like nothing I had ever experienced. I remember writing a letter to my parents stating that these events surely would impact our country and change us forever. From that day forward, I have been interested in working with people and demonstrating compassion and equity for every individual, regardless of their beliefs or background.

Non Fiction--I love anything historical written about the 1920s-1940s

Minnesota is currently the only state with a divided legislature. This is unique, in that the two bodies need to work deliberately in a bipartisan manner.
I strongly believe it is beneficial for a Senator to have experience working in government. I do not believe political experience alone is sufficient to prepare a candidate for the behemoth known as state government.
We have rural, urban, and suburban residents, all of whom have different needs and challenges. We have crumbling infrastructure across the state and capital projects and improvements that must be funded. We need to find a way to fund repairs and new investments in all areas of the state. The immense cost of these projects makes it difficult to do with out creating some new revenue.

We also have a growingly diverse population who need access to affordable and equitable healthcare. We need to move toward a single payer system to ensure every Minnesotan gets the medical care and results they need.
We have had many years recently where the governor and legislature could not agree on bonding or budget. In 2011, the state government shut down for three weeks because these two branches could not reach a compromise. More recently, we had a budget bill completely vetoed and a governor who line item vetoed the legislatures funding.

I see progress from our current legislature and governor to maintain reasonable expectations of one another. These relationships must be cordial and constructive. We need these representatives to understand "compromise" is not a dirty word, especially with a split legislature.
Absolutely. It is important to me to represent the people of my district (Burnsville, Savage, and northwestern Lakeville). It is equally important that all legislators work together to find solutions to problems that impact all Minnesotans.
I would like to be on the Senate Tax Committee, as I am experienced in this area through my work as a leader at the Department of Revenue. I understand revenue drives all other policies and projects.

I would also like to be on the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. While I was at the Office of the Legislative Auditor, I audited the private insurance companies responsible for administering our Medical Assistance program. I also audited their subcontracted pharmacy benefits managers. I saw firsthand the waste in our current system. I would like to be a part of structuring a program that leads to a single payer healthcare system.
Paul Wellstone is probably the most commonly cited legislator that folks in MN look up too. He fought for every Minnesotan with courage, passion, and love.
Not at this time. I would love to focus my efforts on supporting my local community and bringing equitable services across the state.
I have heard a handful of very personal stories that have touched me. Out of respect and privacy of those individuals, I don't want to provide details, but I will say those stories are the main reason I keep moving forward and driving to win this Senate seat. I want to be able to represent them at the state level and bring the programs they need to our district.
