The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Jose Tosado defeated Edward Collins, Jr. and Peter Murphy in the Democratic primary and defeated Robert J. Underwood (unenrolled Libertarian) in the general election.[6]

Underwood ran in the 2012 election for Massachusetts House of Representatives Ninth Hampden District. He ran as an independent candidate and was defeated by incumbent Sean Curran (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[7][8]
2010
Underwood ran for election to the Ninth Hampden seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He was defeated by Sean Curran (D) in the general election on November 2, 2010.
