Significant change in the Board of Education is required in order to restore faith and confidence in our school system. A deficit reported as high as $60 million occurred as a result of administrators and board members not fulfilling their fiduciary responsibility. This resulted in increased burden on the taxpayer. The debacle extends back to 2017 and those responsible must be held accountable

Academic performance within the district falls short of the state standard and our peer group of school districts.. At the same time truancy remains much higher than our reers. Programs must be istituted to raise performance while reducing truancy. State wide studies have shown that many kids are bored with the traditional college prep classes. Additionally the state is woefully behind in offering Vocational and Technical programs tha may bring many of these kids back to school. This will have many positive results, eg increased academic performance, higher graduation rate, and training workers equipped for the workforce.

Finally, "transparency" will be a buzz word through out the campaign. Simply posting lengthy spread sheets and indecipherable reports is not transparency. Using technology like AI it is a simple process to convert hard to understand reports into something anyone can understand. Making these reports available through social media, websites, constituency groups makes the system transparent.
  • A "forensic audit" must be performed on the system going back to 2017 in order to identify when issues arose, why did the arise, who caused them and when and what, if anything, was done to resolve them. The person(s) must then be held accountable.
  • A robust Vocational and Technological program must be started system wide, to reduce truancy, increase performance and graduation rates and provide vauable workers to the work force.
  • Technology MUST be embraced in order to streamline the administrative staffing, reduce the burden on the school administrators and teachers in order for the students to get the highest level of attention.
The "Educational Lottery" was highjacked by the legislature and funds were diverted from education to the general fund. An amendment to the law must be added to direct all profit from the "Educational Lottery" to the schools while not reducing the amount of funding from the general fund. Currently, North Carolina ranks alst of all states in the amount of money allocated per student. This must be fixed.
Ambassador Dell Dailey, former Secretary of the Air Force and Space Force Frank Kendall, former Chairman of the Board and CEO of BB&T Glenn Orr, John Morrow, Senior, Partner, Morrow, Porter, Vermitsky, & Taylor, former Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, LTG Bill Lennox, former Commanding General of the 82nd Airborne Division, MG Chuck Swannack

Campaign website

Weiss' campaign website stated the following:

MISSION FOR THE FUTURE

Students, Parents, Teachers Accountability and Safety

Fiscal responsibility is crucial for the success of our school system, and board members must uphold their fiduciary duties with utmost integrity. By implementing better oversight and managing our schools with a business-minded approach, we can prevent misappropriation of funds that harms our students. Our children deserve a system that prioritizes their education and future.
