Roberta Abdul-Salaam
Roberta Abdul-Salaam (b. September 7, 1955) was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 74 of the Georgia House of Representatives. She previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 74 from 2005 to 2013.
Biography
Abdul-Salaam's professional experience includes working as a paralegal with Golden and Associates LLP from 2001-2004, legal assistant with Swift Currie McGhee and Hiers LLP from 1998-2000, and paralegal/administrative assistant with the United States Federal Government from 1980-1992.
She is the regional director of the Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials, president/founder of Grassroots Connections Incorporated, subscribing life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, associate director of the SCLF Foundation, and vice chair of Shoot-The-Hoop, Incorporated.[1]

2014
Elections for the Georgia House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014, with runoff elections taking place where necessary on July 22, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Valencia Stovall defeated Roberta T. Abdul-Salaam and Yasmin M. Neal in the Democratic primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[2][3][4]

Abdul-Salaam ran for re-election to the 74th District seat in 2010. No one filed to run against her in the general election. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[5]

2008
In 2008, Abdual-Salaam was re-elected to the Georgia House of Representatives District 74. Abdul-Salaam (D) ran unopposed and finished with 18,940 votes.[7] Abdual-Salaam raised $5,655 for her campaign fund.[8]

Back taxes
In March 2010, watchdog website Atlanta Unfiltered said that Abdul-Salaam owed $22,381 in unpaid taxes. Georgia Department of Revenue documents revealed that she had not paid taxes since 2001.[9] She said that her taxes were current and that her issues in that area were behind her.[10]
