Roberta Coates
Roberta A. Coates was a judge for the First Circuit Court in Laramie County, Wyoming. She was appointed to the court by former Governor Dave Freudenthal in September 2004, and retired from the bench on December 12, 2014.[1][2]
Education
Coates received her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University in 1973 and her J.D. degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1976.[1][3]
Career
Before she became a judge, Coates worked as an attorney in private practice, served as a general counsel and vice president for Taco John’s International, and clerked for the Honorable James E. Barrett of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She also previously worked as an attorney for the Legal Services of Southeast Wyoming, for the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office, and for Laramie County.[1]
2010 election
Coates was retained to the First Circuit Court in 2010.[4][5]
