Roberta Reardon is the New York Commissioner of Labor. Reardon assumed office in 2015. Reardon's current term ends on January 1, 2027.
Reardon was appointed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) in September 2015 as the permanent replacement for Peter Rivera, who resigned in January 2015.[1]
Biography
Reardon began her career in acting after earning a theatre degree from the University of Wisconsin. In 2007, she became the president of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). In 2012, when the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) merged with the AFTRA, Reardon became the founding co-president of the new SAG-AFTRA union, which boasted approximately 165,000 members. She served in that post until 2013.[2][3]
Before being appointed labor commissioner, Reardon worked as a special liaison for common sense economics at the AFL-CIO.[3] She has also served as a member of the board of trustees for the Actors Fund and the AFTRA Health and Retirement Funds.[4]

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced that he had appointed Reardon New York Commissioner of Labor on September 24, 2015. She took over for Mario J. Musolino, who had been serving as interim commissioner since January 2015, after former commissioner Peter Rivera resigned.[3][1]
Reardon was confirmed by the New York State Senate on June 15, 2016.[5]
