Biography
Roberto Apodaca Reveles was born in Miami, Arizona. Reveles' career experience includes working as an administrator. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955. Reveles earned a bachelor's degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1962.[1]

My employment in the public and private sector and my volunteer service in retirement demonstrate the values I bring for bold, creative, and responsive leadership to resolve divisive issues. My leadership skills and experience in bringing people together will benefit the communities within our district. My work ethic, social conscience, and civic values were formed by my childhood in the small mining town of Miami, Arizona. At that time, Miami was a totally segregated mining town with workers from all corners of the globe. It was an experience that formed my social conscience and passion for civic engagement dedicated to improving peoples’ lives. It sparked my interest in learning how to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds. That collaborative interest was fortified by my military service in Europe and my education at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Although I had planned to pursue a career as a diplomat, I ended up working for 24 years on the congressional staff of 5 Members of Congress, including Arizona’s Stewart L. Udall and Morris K. Udall.
During my second career, I worked for a mining company. I promoted the adoption of environmental values within an industry challenged by concern about mining-related impacts and enabled constructive dialogue between natural resource developers and environmental advocates.- Consensus Through Collaborative Talk
Over my entire life, I’ve been striving for constructive solutions to divisive issues that affect all of us. Arizona continues to face conflicts over the integrity of our elections, disagreements over the role of immigrants in our economy, challenges to reproductive and other health access issues, inadequate funding of education, the impact of natural resource development on the environment, and the need for an effective transition to a green energy economy.
I’m no stranger to confronting disagreements, and I’m proud of creating coalitions of people dedicated to working toward achieving consensus through respectful civil dialogue. As a senator, I will be committed to overcoming divisiveness. - Community Needs LD7 is one of the largest legislative districts in the state in terms of geographic area and one of the most complex. It has everything from heavily industrialized mining areas to numerous state parks and spectacular wilderness areas. Like the landscape itself, LD7 supports a wide variety of local economies, including ranching, forestry, mining, freight hauling, outdoor recreation and tourism, and many small businesses. For LD7 to thrive, we must provide adequate funding for our rural schools, opportunities for sustainable development, affordable housing, and expanded rural healthcare. I have a history of promoting constructive policies to overcome the challenges rural families face.
- Action Plan Together, we can promote public education, revitalize our economy, provide good-paying jobs, stimulate the construction of adequate housing, improve transportation systems, enable access to affordable health care, safeguard everyone’s personal freedoms, protect women’s right to reproductive health, and conserve the natural wonders of our area. I believe that all rural Arizonans deserve to achieve the American Dream, as I have worked hard to do all my life. It is our responsibility to preserve our democratic republic for our children, grandchildren, and those who come after us. I respectfully ask that you place on me the responsibility of representing you as your State Senator in the Legislature.
