Robin B. Stilwell
Robin B. Stilwell is a circuit court judge for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] He joined the court on July 2, 2009.[2] He was re-elected on February 4, 2015, to a term expiring in 2021.[3]
Education
Stilwell received his undergraduate degree in English from The Citadel in 1989 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1993.[4]
Career
Stilwell began practicing law with his father at the Stilwell Law Firm in Greenville, South Carolina. He then began a career of practicing general law in either a small firm or as a sole practitioner. Before his election to the bench, he was a shareholder with the firm of Hunter, Tomaszek & Stilwell, P.A., where he had a general practice focused on the representation of small businesses. Stilwell also served as a municipal court judge for the town of Mauldin from 2000 until 2009.[4]
Military service
After his graduation from The Citadel, Stilwell was commissioned as an infantry officer in the United States Army and has served continuously since with the South Carolina Army National Guard. He was an infantry officer in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from early 2007 through mid 2008. Stilwell was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service while conducting combat operations. Upon returning home, Stilwell was awarded the Palmetto Patriot Award by Lieutenant Governor Andre Bauer.[4]
