After more than twenty years as an educator, first in public schools and then in teacher preparation, I’m running for OK Senate District 21 to defend and support the public schools that are vital to meeting our children’s needs and nurturing their long-term potential.

I will champion: Education Health Care

Employment Opportunities
  • Education - I am committed to protecting public schools that serve as the bedrock of our democracy and the heart of our communities. For our children to thrive, we need to do more for the professionals in every role in our schools – bus drivers to teachers, from paraprofessionals to specialists, counselors and more. As someone who’s worked in public schools and higher education for more than 20 years, I recognize the excellent return on investment of post-secondary opportunities, whether a career tech program or higher education.
  • Health Care - Oklahoma remains one of the states with the highest uninsured rates. While medicaid expansion certainly helped, our need to close this gap remains. I’ll work for access to the insurance Oklahomans need, and I’ll work to recruit and retain health professionals to provide that care, mental health included.
  • Access to Opportunities - Oklahomans need fantastic employment opportunities and services that put those opportunities within reach. I’ll stay focused on concrete solutions like addressing our child care and elder care crises, increasing accessibility of veterans’ services, and supporting our small businesses in order to move us forward.
In addition to my priority areas noted here, I'm eager to see us move away from divisive, partisan rhetoric. Oklahomans are ready for problem-solvers who are ready to get real work done for our communities.
Clara Luper is a huge hero as an educator who made an incredible difference.
Integrity, compassion, and an eagerness to continue learning are essential. I'm going door to door to listen to folks' needs. A solution-oriented focus is critical -- we have too many politicians who wring their hands and do little. I'll get to work on behalf of Oklahomans.
I'm fair-minded, compassionate, and find joy in making sure life is better for my neighbors. That, to me, is what leadership is about.
The core responsibility of a State Senate seat is to work to make life better for Oklahomans. Too often policy makers campaign on federal issues or, worse, divisive talking points that have nothing to do with our local communities. I'll work to meet my neighbors' needs in essential state policy areas like education, health access, and a thriving economy.
I was a babysitter in high school (regularly watched two girls all summer - such a joy!), and my first job beyond that was as a waitress. Food service teaches a person a lot; I highly recommend it.
Our government works best when all parties are focused on serving the people across parties. Most good work that happens is in the middle, and I'll continue to collaborate across parties to serve the district.
Oklahoma's public education is at a tipping point. Public education is under overt attack, and we must support it. Thriving public schools are essential for a functioning democracy, and they're the path to the American dream for each child. We have to address our teacher exodus in order to better serve our children and make sure we have strong public schools, both for our children and for our economy as a state.
Absolutely. Little effective governance occurs without building positive relationships. We all benefit from electing those like me who will find common ground and stay focused on people over party.
Minority Leader Kay Floyd is a wonderful example of a leader who strives to serve and has earned respect across parties by her strong work ethic, her clear commitment to serving, and her unwavering focus on making Oklahoma a better place for all of us to live.
I've been doing state-level education advocacy for many years, which is why I'm thrilled to be pursuing this seat. State policy is where my focus will remain.
I'm working to address the teacher exodus, and I'll continue to do so when I'm a senator, so solutions that keep qualified, caring teachers in our classrooms so that our children have the best opportunities possible will be my first priority legislatively.
I'll be adding a list to my website soon. I'm proud to have earned many endorsements.
These are vital. We see too many corrupt politicians like Ryan Walters -- and too many others who aren't holding him accountable. Leaders have an obligation to carry out the work ethically and transparently.
