I am a classical liberal Libertarian who believes in the Non-Aggression Principle and supports individual liberty. To quote Larry Sharpe, "You can be as conservative or as liberal as you want to be, just don’t force your will on others.” I am a Minarchist. I believe the current 2 party system is actually "two wings of the same bird" and has hijacked government control from the People. I am a Nurse Practitioner who believes healthcare should be individualized and private between the patient and the provider, not dictated or mandated by government. I believe that a child's parents (whatever form that may take) are the best advocates for their children and their decisions regarding how to raise them should be respected. I believe taxation is theft, but if necessary for a "civilized society", I would support the Fair Tax. I am 100% against property taxes and income taxes. I believe individuals should help one another voluntarily and not have money taken from them and given to the government to "help" and do it poorly. I believe no candidate should run unopposed and that people deserve to have a choice.
  • Don't hurt other people and don't take their stuff
  • Be who you want to be, think how you want to think, believe how you want to believe, but don't force your will on others.
  • Individual responsibility is key to freedom. This means individuals should be equal under the law. Equality of outcome is impossible when individuals are free, but the best outcomes occur when people are free.
Healthcare, education, taxation, regulations
I look up to a few individuals to whom I am close. They are independent ladies who are taking good care of themselves and facing aging with a great attitude.
Number one is the understanding that as an elected representative, you work for the people. An elected representative should work to ensure that, as much as possible, individuals are left alone to govern their own lives.
My Classical Liberal beliefs make me an ideal candidate for all individuals.
To minimize growth of government and regulations. To repeal current laws and regulations that do not support the premise of individual liberty.
That I have helped others who asked for help and supported individuals in their pursuits.
I worked in the Market in Charleston selling trinkets. I worked over the summer and it was a great job.
"The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. It is beautifully written and full of wisdom.
I was divorced when I was in my late 20s and that was difficult. Ultimately, it made me a better and stronger person and a better parent, and in many ways shaped my beliefs about individual freedom.
The governor should have limited powers and "executive orders" should be eliminated. The governor ultimately should answer to the state legislature and the people.
Living up to the premise that we are a fiscally conservative yet free state. Our state needs to eliminate property and income taxes and also pare down the number of regulations on individuals and businesses.
Absolutely not. Upon our founding, legislative positions were meant to be held short term by regular citizens. Politics was not meant to be a lifetime career. Staying in politics long term leads to corruption and cronyism.
Yes, if those relationships are in place to advance the causes of freedom and limited government, not to personally benefit or enrich one another.
I really like Ron Paul. Follow him on The Liberty Report for more perspectives of his.
If so, it would be a local position. I have no interest in "moving up" in the hierarchy of the already bloated government. Limited government means local governments doing different things. That is what I support.
Most taxes are funds taken by force from individuals. The least a government can do is be open and honest about how those funds are spent. The funds should also be used responsibly, but I find government agencies are almost never able to do this.
Good. This would put more control in the hands of individuals.
