I am a life long resident of Pike County and have raised my two kids here. I recently retired from the Area Agency on Aging where I was the Administrator for 22 years and realize the needs of many of our residents. I believe we need more affordable long-term care services and facilities and that the direct care worker has impacted so many of our families who need home and community based services. My family all participate in the beautiful outdoor activities our area provides and want to protect these precious spaces. I want to bring more mental health services, providers, and awareness about these services. I support our local school districts and support a career technology center for the district as there isn't one for our young people to help prepare them for much-needed vocational jobs. My son had to commute to Scranton for his training in HVAC at Johnson College and is now working in this much needed profession. I am a registered dietitian who believes in access to safe, fresh food, and advocates for SNAP benefit enhancements, universal school lunches, as well as the farmer's market nutrition voucher program expansions.
  • I will fight for health care services that we need including increased funding for emergency services and access to urgent care, acute care, and affordable long term care services. I will protect access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare and believe women should be in charge of their own bodies.
  • I want a better future for our students and believe by providing resources they need, like universal school lunches, more vocational programs, and access to special education services as well as mental health services we will see a better prepared young adult who can work and stay in their own community. That working on a living wage that supports independence in their community will benefit all. I also believe that providing anti-bullying and suicide prevention programs will provide inclusivity for our families and promote healthier communities.
  • I support our aging population and people living with disabilities and will work for more options for aging in place. I believe there is a need for affordable long-term care service options and have spear-headed the SHARE Housing program in Pike and Wayne, and Monroe Counties. I believe keeping the Elder Abuse Task Force and their awareness programs to educate the community and work to prevent more fraud, scams, and abuses of our aging adults. Dementia and other cognitive disorders are increasing with the growing population and I believe more caregiver support-type programs and Dementia Friendly Communities are necessary to support families and promote a quality of life and dignity and respect.
Fresh Food Opportunity Zone Act (increasing access to fresh food and incentivizes using tax credits for businesses)

BPA-Free Food Container Act (affects Cancer rates, DEP, Consumer Protection
Health Care Facilities Act for nurse/patient ratios

Woman's Reproductive Health Care Compact Act
I look up to many people, some neighbors, some former co-workers and family members. They were the consistent, honest, funny individuals that provided kind words, help when needed, and always worked hard even after retirement to volunteer and support their communities.
Integrity and transparency with constituents and fellow lawmakers.

Accessibility and open communication with district and community to be aware of current issues and concerns.
Collaborative skills with coming to reasonable solutions to better serve the majority of issues within the legislature.
Respect and compassion to the most vulnerable of the community.

Hard-working and endurance to stay focused on the hard issues that need research, resources, and collaboration.
I care about people and would work hard to get things done. I can work in bi-partisan way to get things accomplished. I am curious and creative and feel there are small achievements that can be won when people put their personal objectives aside in favor of the greater need.
To work for the district's residents and not for yourself.
To be accessible to those groups and community members who need to get their concerns heard.
The Iran hostage crisis of 1980. We were at a wedding in New York City and the news was covering the situation. It was scary to see and it started a very boisterous discussion amongst the family. I was 15/16
Baby Sitter, 1-2 years for local working families, during my teenage years.
Braiding Sweet Grass, Robin Wall Kimmerer
It was a narrative of her life as an indigenous professor in New York State and how her upbringing and her love of all things plants demonstrated the way nature has a way of caring for itself when there is respect, gratitude, and nurturing. Much like humans and communities.
Everyday People, Sly and the Family Stone
The loss of my mother prior to my children being born. I think that always was such a sad situation. I worked all through their childhood and was fortunate to have family and neighbors to help with childcare and errands. It made me realize how much we take for granted with our families and I want to give back to support families in my community. My mother would be proud.
Infrastructure support and enhancement/funding

Aging in place of people with higher needs, special needs, and living arrangements that don't currently exist.
Livable wage for all Pennsylvanians

Protecting Reproductive rights of women
It would help with understanding the legislative process, in budget needs, and the various committees that do the work
Since COVID, there were so many folks who suffered terrible depression due to social isolation. In rural communities, there is no "bus stop" or gathering places, especially if you don't drive. The idea of "Friendly Chat" buddies came about and was initiated with a number of the colleges across the state and relationships were begun between these inter-generational pairs. Many of the people benefited, from this sharing of time, stories, and care. The young people said it was like getting their own grandparent and they learned so much from these interactions.
