Three seats on the Rockwood School District school board were up for general election on April 8, 2014. Incumbents Matt Doell, Keith Kinder and newcomer Dominque Paul defeated incumbent Darby Jo Arakelian and challenger Eileen Tyrrell for the three at-large seats.

Rockwood School District is located in east-central Missouri in St. Louis County. The county seat of St. Louis County is Clayton. St. Louis County is home to 1,001,444 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] In the 2011-2012 school year, Rockwood School District was the third-largest school district in Missouri and served 22,503 students.[2]
Demographics
St. Louis County outperformed the rest of Missouri in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 40.6 percent of St. Louis County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 26.2 percent for Missouri as a whole. The median household income in St. Louis County was $58,910 compared to $47,380 for the state of Missouri. The poverty rate in St. Louis County was 10.9 percent compared to 15.5 percent for the entire state.[1]

Voter and candidate information
The Rockwood school board consists of seven members elected at-large to three-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on April 8, 2014, for three seats. Two seats were on the ballot in 2015.
Candidates began to file affidavits of candidacy on December 17, 2013. The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was January 21, 2014, and the deadline for candidate certification was January 28, 2014.[4]

Endorsements
The Missouri National Education Association endorsed incumbents Matt Doell and Keith Kinder, as well as newcomer Dominque Paul in this election.[5]
Campaign finance
Matt Doell received $4,512 in campaign contributions and spent $973.34, leaving him with $3,538.66 on hand. He was the only candidate to file a finance report with the Missouri Ethics Commission.[6]
