Rodney Davis (California)

Rodney Davis was a judge on the Third District of the California Courts of Appeal. He took his oath of office on February 27, 1989 after his appointment by former Governor Deukmejian. He was retained by voters in the November 5, 2002 and January 6, 2003 elections. He retired from the court to become a priest in February of 2009.[1][2][3]

Education

Rodney Davis was born on February 14, 1949 in Sacramento, California. He graduated from the University of California, Davis in 1971. He received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1974. In 1979, he earned his master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California. He is married with two children.[2]

Career

Rodney Davis worked as a California Deputy Attorney General from 1974 to 1983. During this time, he worked as an Assistant United States Attorney, Chief of the Medi-Cal Fraud Unit, and a prosecutor in the Criminal Division. He was then appointed to the Sacramento Municipal Court, where he worked until his appointment to the Superior Court in 1985. He served on the Sacramento Superior Court until 1989, when he became an appellate justice.[2][4]
