Rodney Driver (b. July 1, 1932) is a former Democratic member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, representing District 39 from 2009 to 2011.

Driver was a member of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Campaign in 1952. In 1986, he was a delegate at the Rhode Island Constitutional Convention. He then served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives from 1987 to 1994. Driver ran for election to the United States House of Representatives in 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2006, but was never elected.

Biography

Driver earned his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1953 and 1955, respectively and earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Minnesota in 1960. His professional experience includes working as a Research Mathematician for the following institutions: The Research Institute for Advanced Studies from 1960 to 1961, the Math Research Center at the University of Wisconsin - Madison from 1961 to 1962 and Sandia National Laboratories from 1962 to 1969. He then worked as a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Rhode Island from 1969 to 1998.[1]

In 2008, Driver was elected to the Rhode Island House District 39. Driver (D) finished with 3,695 votes while his opponent David Hathaway (R) finished with 3,385 votes.[2] Driver raised $15,102 for his campaign fund.[3]
