Campaign themes
On his campaign website, Brunelle details his policy positions and campaign themes:
- Economic Development & Job Creation:
- "A destination resort casino in Southeastern Massachusetts: This would create hundreds of local construction jobs and up to a thousand long-term local jobs at the facility. Putting people to work on the South Coast is the main reason Roger decided to run for State Representative"
- "Revitalizing the South Coast Rail Link: Our area needs a fast and effective transportation system to encourage businesses to locate and grow in our region."
- "Enhancing Our Industrial Base: Roger knows we can’t afford to abandon our manufacturing base and the jobs it creates. He believes that state government should be encouraging industrial employers to locate and grow in our state."
- "Assisting Our Small Business Owners: Roger’s wife, Lorna, has been a small business owner and employer for 16 years. The Brunelle family knows first-hand the challenges facing small businesses. Roger is committed to providing every opportunity for local business to grow."
- Education:
- "K-12 Education: Roger knows that the only way our children can have a better life is through education. Roger will fight for increased local aid for schools throughout the district."
- "Teachers Make the Difference: Roger will work with local teachers, principals and school committees to address issues like New Bedford’s high dropout rate and funding for basic educational services across the district."
- "Job Training Funding: Roger believes in vocational education funding and alternative job market funding. He will ensure this funding is a priority on Beacon Hill."
- Senior Services: "Roger believes the current debate on cutting Medicare and Social Security benefits is wrong. As your next State Representative, he will fight harder than anyone to protect senior services."
- Veterans Affairs: "As a volunteer for the nonprofit Homes for Our Troops, Roger has donated his time and his skills to support the men and women of our military. Roger believes in action, not just words, when it comes to standing with and supporting our troops."
