Roger Hayes (New York)
Roger S. Hayes was a justice for the New York County Supreme Court in the 1st Judicial District of New York. He was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) in 2013.[1][2]
Education
Hayes received his B.S. from the Cornell University School of Industrial & Labor Relations in 1965 and his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1968.[1]
Career
Hayes began his career in 1968 as an associate of the law firm of Cohn & Glickstein. He then worked as an assistant New York County district attorney from 1971 to 1978. He also served as general counsel to the State Division of Criminal Justice Services from 1975 to 1977. From 1977 to 1985, he was chief of the trial division of the New York County Office of the District Attorney. In 1989, he joined the Southern District of New York as a deputy United States attorney. He worked in this capacity until 1993, when he was promoted to assistant U.S. attorney. The following year, he became counsel for Dogr, Devorkinkrieck, working in this capacity until his judicial appointment to the New York City Criminal Court in 1995.[1]
