Hello, My name is Roger Kittelson and I live in rural Goodhue Township, Goodhue, MN. My professional background includes over 35 years in Agricultural business as a Dairy Sales Manager marketing dairy ingredients domestically and internationally to food and feed markets. Currently, I own my own small company marketing dairy ingredients for a few companies in the Midwestern States. Furthermore, I have been a substitute teacher working with Preschool to High School students, in our local schools, for the past four years. Lastly, I taught adults composition at a Technical College for three years in the past decade.
Personally, I am the father of 4 adult children and 5 small grandchildren. I own and live on a small farm were I raise feeder cattle and operate my small business, after school.
I am a member of the Bellechester and Zumbrota Lions Club, Goodhue-Bellechester Rail Riders, U of MN Alumni Club, Red Wing Red Mens Club, Life time member of the Pheasants Forever Club, and the Minnesota Quilters Association Business Club. Lastly, I was on a school board for 8 years, 2 years as chair and in following years a volunteer in our local school working with students and participating on ad hoc committees when we were hiring principals and a superintendent.
First Minnesota Issue is Minnesota Healthcare For All - Minnesota. I will support and vote for the Minnesota Healthcare for All Plan. It is a single, statewide health plan that covers all Minnesotans for all their medical needs - and costs less than we are now paying, plus provide better healthcare for everyone in MN.
The Minnesota economy is very important whether you live in the metro areas or the rural area. I intend to be a conservative voter by focusing on legislation that helps our communities with schools, transportation, healthcare, police/safety needs, and focusing on new businesses and existing business needs to grow.
No Taxation without Representation. Many residents feel that the small towns and townships simply get little help from the legislature. Small communities rely on bonding to help build public buildings like schools, roads, and water/sewer needs and I will support important community bonding projects that will help our smaller communities. wweand eas get the isdvion
Healthcare changes with the elimination of the MN healthcare insurance industry from our Minnesota economy and replacing it with the Minnesota Health Plan which is a single, statewide health plan that covers all Minnesotans for all their medical needs and costs less that we are now paying. And it will improve healthcare for every Minnesota resident. This type of plan is supported by the majority of democrats, republicans, and independent voters. Plus MN already has a core group of legislators that are pushing for its approval this year.
Transportation funding; In rural Minnesota our tax base is concerning in regard to transportation and we rely on shared transportation funding to maintain our township, county, states, and city streets. I want to make sure we are providing the funding that is necessary to keep our rural transportation needs in good condition and safer.
Education is the cornerstone of our democracy and our financial strength in America. Minnesota needs to be the leader in education from preschool through trade schools and college. Great Minnesota schools keep great workers and their companies in Minnesota and they help bring in more great companies or start up of new companies. If we go cheap on education we will lose our great companies, our great workers, and our tax base that pays for all our government needs.
MN needs to pass legislation that will ensure every MN child has the same amount of time with each parent when they divorce.
My father mainly as he always went to work and did his best to raise his family. My older brothers and sisters who took his advise and went to college or trade school to provide themselves with a better life, too. We all went to work, paid our taxes and kept building Minnesota.
I learned a long time ago that to be successful you always need to be honest and work together. My career in marketing has been very good and my successes were due to working with and for honest companies, customers all over the world. And I still continue to see that example work for my adult children.
Working together with other legislators for a common goal to make our state number one in everything we work with including healthcare, education, transportation, and police/public safety.
My first job was working for area farmers my senior year in high school. I worked with farm equipment, planted crops, milked cows, feed cattle, fixed farm equipment, built and repaired farm building, drove trucks, and I even baby sat children when needed. Anything that needed to keep the farm businesses and their household working well was in the verbal job needs.
IN Minnesota the legislature operates that state, by our charter. The governors should be the sales person for Mn with a close relationship with the legislature.
Yes, because each individual will come to the Capitol with concerns and hopefully ideas. They may all have great ideas to improve MN and its important to listen and be honest. In the end the best results will occur from a honest relationship with all legislators.
Family law in Minnesota is living in the past. Most states have equal placement for children, but in MN it appears the lawyers have stopped it from passing. Children need both parents and they want and desire the same amount of time with both parents. MN should listen to the children and stop treating them like a piece of chattel for lawyers and a judge to fight over for their benefit. Fathers and their children desire and need equal placement and it seems like some DFL lawyers are stopping this very important legislation from being the law of the land. I have heard this story many times especially since I started teaching in the MN schools this past five years.

2020
Roger Kittelson completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2020. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Kittelson's responses. Candidates are asked three required questions for this survey, but they may answer additional optional questions as well.
Please go to my new website RogerKittelson2020.com It will be updated through this election year. Currently, it provides my personal and professional background and the three main issues and reasons I as seeking this office in the Minnesota State Legislature - Senate District 21 - which is a rural district in Southeastern Minnesota.
The three main issues are healthcare, education, and transportation.
Please donate if you believe in a grassroots campaign and better healthcare without the insurance industry regulating our healthcare for their profit. The suggestion is a Minnesota Health Care Cooperative, which is operated by Minnesota residents, funded by the Minnesota residents, and benefits Minnesota residents without any outside business interests interfering with our healthcare professionals and our Minnesota residents. Please review the website; RogerKittelson2020.com.
We can do a better job operating our healthcare and senior healthcare without the insurance industry and lawyers that profit from it.
Education is important in the short term and long term and a strong Preschool through PHD programs are very important for our long term economic competitiveness.
Transportation - roads, bridges, rail, river traffic, sea ports, and mass transit play a huge part in moving goods and people, which makes us money and saves us money in our State.
The three areas I reported in the key messages are my main passion, which is making money and saving money for Minnesota in the short run and long run. We are locked in the midwest, with great resources to market domestically and internationally and we need a great health care system, education system, and transportation system to achieve the goals of being extremely competitive in the world of business. Good business helps fund these three items and more.
Truly the individuals that go to work every day and pay taxes to run our County, State and Country. They deserve the medal of honor for doing the jobs that keep us moving forward. So, no one person can lead we all need to help everyone in all positions do their best and trust they will succeed at that task.
I was very successful in dairy ingredients sales in the food and feed industry and developing and dissemination international dairy markets for the USDA Dairy Division.
I know how to take large tasks and work with individuals to get the goals accomplished. I enjoy working with a varied group of individuals to move goals forward.
My first professional job out of the University of Minnesota was a Technical Writer for a Curriculum Design education program focusing on Agriculture Record Keeping and Finance. It was a temporary position that lasted one year.
Yes, its important to build relationships in the business world and with your fellow legislators. It truly does not matter who they are and what they believe but it is important to understand what the main reasons for the differences in each legislative issue and be able to compromise for the best results for all parties.
One long term State Senator reported that both parties in the State Legislature are there to do what is in the best interests of the State of Minnesota and I agree.
I am not sure, as time changes the issues that face the State over time and what may have worked 20 years ago or more may not be the best policy today. In other words, one should be flexible to find the best compromise for the issues that are difficult to resolve.
WE have lots of stories about health care problems that should not occur if everyone had healthcare, with a yearly checkup, which will save lives and reduce healthcare costs, but the insurance industry demands a profit before they receive any claims. We do not need any healthcare insurance companies anymore. They simply do not work anymore for customers or healthcare professionals, and should have been put out of business two decades ago when the cost of health care became more expensive than housing.
Our Congress and Presidents and our State have failed to do what is in the best financial interests of residents in the USA and Minnesota.
