Hillestad ran for election to the Dunn County Circuit Court.
Primary: He was defeated in the primary on February 18, 2014, receiving 14.9 percent of the vote. He competed against Christina M. Mayer and James M. Peterson. [1][2]

Hillestad previously served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.[3]

Education

Hillestad received an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1983 and a law degree from Hamline University School of Law in 1987.[3]

Career

Hillestad is an attorney in private practice and owns his own law firm. He also serves as a Family Court Commissioner for Buffalo and Pepin counties and is a Special Prosecutor for Buffalo County.[3]
