Campaign website

Williams' campaign website stated the following:

Roger Williams is a Christian, conservative, pro-life and second amendment supporter fighting to take our Texas values to Washington, D.C.

Roger is running for Congress not to be something, but to do something. He wants to continue to use his business experience to create economic growth and jobs. And he wants to provide real leadership for our country in these challenging times.

As a small business owner, Roger understands how difficult an overbearing government can be to main street America. In his small business, Roger dealt with the impact of the Obama administration, which made businesses more dependent on the government, including high taxes, rising energy prices and soaring health care costs. Since 2016, Roger has worked alongside President Trump to reverse the devastating course our country had been on for the past eight years and to make America great again.

Roger’s passion for principled, conservative leadership has led him to assist the political efforts of Republican candidates from the White House to the county courthouse. He served as Regional Finance Chairman for Governor Bush in 1994 and 1998 before he went on to serve as the North Texas Chairman for the Bush/Cheney 2000 campaign, as well as the North Texas Finance Chairman and National Grassroots Fundraising Chairman for Bush/Cheney ’04, Inc. Williams was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2001 as the Chairman of the Republican National Finance Committee’s Eagles Program. He has also served as State Finance Chair for John Cornyn for U.S. Senate, Inc., in 2002 and as the National Director of the “Patriots” program for Senator Cornyn.

Roger Williams’ civic activities include serving on the Board of Trustees for the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. Williams is also a member of the Texas Christian University Board of Trustees, his alma mater. He also serves on the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

Roger has been a small business owner in Texas for over 45 years. He and his wife, Patty, have two adult daughters. [14]

2016

The following issues were listed on Williams' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Balancing the Budget: As a business owner, I don’t just talk about balancing the budget, I do it every day. If revenues are down, expenses must be reduced. As your Congressman, I will support a balanced budget amendment, and I will oppose efforts to raise the debt ceiling. We can’t spend our way back to a balanced budget.
  • Entitlement Reform is Critical: In my business, I deal with pension issues for my employees. And I know that the federal government cannot sustain its current path of entitlement spending. This is an outrage for younger Americans who are paying into a system that won’t be there for them.
  • Abolishing Earmarks: I oppose earmarks not just because of all the wasteful spending; I oppose them because they represent a corruption of the political process. In my business, we only spend money on ideas that make sense and make dollars for our company. The same should be true for government.
  • Ending the Tax Code as We Know It: Not only do I believe that we need to lower taxes, I believe we need to utterly reform the tax code. As a business owner, I know how the current tax code costs money, time, and jobs. While adjustments can be made to help America be more competitive – such as reducing the corporate tax rate – what we truly need is to completely overhaul our tax code with a new system that is simple, fair, and pro-growth.
  • American Energy Independence is a Critical National Priority: We are all seeing the growing instability of the Middle East. We cannot continue to send billions of dollars overseas to unstable foreign nations who are threatened by Islamic radicals. Before it is too late, our nation must embark on a "Manhattan Project" to explore, produce, and technologically advance our own American energy supplies.
