Ron Gerwatowski is the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commissioner. He assumed office on June 1, 2020. His current term ends on February 28, 2026.

Gerwatowski was appointed by Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) in June 2020.[1] Gerwatowski replaced Margaret E. “Meg” Curran, whose term expired in February 2019.

At the time of his appointment as chair of the commission, Gerwatowski was working as a senior regulatory advisor to the Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers. He has also served as Assistant Secretary of Energy in Massachusetts before moving to Rhode Island. Gerwatowski is a guest lecturer in the Energy Fellows Program at the University of Rhode Island.[1]

Gerwatowski was nominated to chair the commission by Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) on January 10, 2020, and confirmed in June 2020.[2][1] Gerwatowski replaced Margaret E. “Meg” Curran as chair of the commission, as Curran's term expired in February 2019, and she was not reappointed.
