I’m a lifelong Missourian and resident of Eagle Rock, MO in Barry County. I’m a father of six, grandfather of fourteen and great grandfather to one. I am a retired small business owner and former city council member, having dedicated more than 45 years to serving his community in various appointed, elected, and volunteer positions. I was honored to serve nine terms as a Slater City Council member, served on the National League of Cities Economic Development Committee, and has led Missouri delegations at congressional conferences. I am past president of the Missouri Municipal League and served on the Board of Directors for over ten years. During my tenure I worked with officials from all parts of the state in formulating policies & advocating for communities of all sizes. We were non-partisan in all areas and worked to better all Missouri towns. It is this simple idea of working together, discussing options & coming to a solution that will be good for the citizens. It’s something that needs to, again, part of political discussion. The people agree on the vast majority of issues but we have allowed a minority to deadlock the process. The people deserve better.
  • Education is highest priority! We need to Fully Fund Education. Increase salaries & retain local control. To retain good teachers we must provide the salaries, benefits & support to prepare our children to compete in the 21st Century. Local control & oversight is essential and our Tax dollars are Public Money & Should Remain in Public Schools
  • Reproductive Rights Government should not be in Dr. Offices or exam rooms. It should never dictate how to diagnose or treat a patient. This private, personal decision should be left to a woman & her doctor. I support the constitutional ballot issue that will restore a women’s choice as laid out in Roe v Wade.
  • Get Some Work Done Least productive session in memory. Embarrassing. Intra-party squabbling. Deadlock. Need Dialog, debate, decision; politics is the art of compromise. Decorum/Respect must return. Job is STATE position, not federal (Nat. Guard on border) not local ( mandates to cities, schools, libraries) Failed to pass of child care tax credits. Failed to ban child marriage. Failed to end taking millions of dollars in SS benefits owed to foster kids. 2024 MO Senate went without a single conference committee, didn’t pass a single piece of legislation in its final week, refused to accept messages from the House, a breach of decorum. We deserve a working Senate!
Education, tourism, working to make government work agin for all our citizens.
My father. Always fair in all his dealings, level headed, hard working, respected and respectful.
I would recommend biography, research of Jerry Litton. He was a congressman that was the embodiment of what a great public servant should be. If you watch any ‘Dialogue with Litton’ you will see a meaningful conversation about the current political issues. Members from both parties would answer questions from anyone in attendance; the matter would be discussed & any questions answered. Guests ranging from Shirley Chisom to Jack Kemp would be guests. Everyone involved:host, guest, audience, questioner were all respectful and polite. Discussion was listened to without interruption, accusations or insults. We need to begin doing this again and begin working together for the improvement of our state.
Honesty. Integrity. Be a good listener. Elected officials are public servants who should serve the people & their interests. They must be willing to learn, be willing to listen to other viewpoints and adapt to changing circumstances. Lobbyists are constantly trying to influence legislation and elected officials must remember their allegiance is to the majority of their constituents not to the highest contributor or person with easy access. The single mother, the unemployed father, the retirees are just as important & deserving of the same kind of support and respect.
I’m a good listener, believe in researching, listening, learning about subjects. I’m open minded and willing to listen to other opinions. I am a good friend, never met a stranger & believe in second chances. I’m fair & non-judgmental.
To fulfill your oath of office and to represent the citizens and interests of your district. Obligations include
A good father and grandfather who left the world just a little better while he was here.
Housing rehabilitation & temporary youth summer work program county director. Was there for 16 months.
Truman by David McCullough
Trying to find the balance between personal, professional, work and leisure time. Always a fine line between them but I try my hardest to keep my priorities clear.
The relationship can vary depending upon which party has the majority in the legislature. Missouri present system seems to work well and I don’t know why it should be changed.
The changing demographics of the state. The Springfield Metro area has seen some of the biggest growth in recent years & shifting populations, new residents will provide challenges for both cities and the state. Infrastructure, crime, jobs, educational opportunities and emerging technologies will all play a role in our future.

Expanding educational opportunities we can provide answers to our biggest problems.
The aging of our society is also a major challenge facing us. We must work to improve health care options & provide the tools necessary to care for neighbors. Rural communities face increasing challenges. We need to develop plans to see the care everyone needs is available.

Roads, bridges, old water/drain lines need attention and we must continue investing to make sure our transportation system is second to none. Upgraded electrical infrastructure will be needed to meet demand and provide the tools needed for other technology advances. By working on developing beneficial renewable energy sources we must work with existing & future partners to ensure affordable energy.
Absolutely. By being together, discussing, getting to know one another allows a person to build a working relationship. We have so much more in common than we do differences. It’s time we build on our shared goals and that’s best done by having a relationship.
I realized how much I needed to learn about the various challenges teachers face. She explained how in one school district there was a turnover rate exceeding 55%. Because of seasonal employment, homelessness and other factors she only saw 40% of her class the entire year. The challenge to her, the students & the school district is unfathomable to me.

I believe financial transparency is essential for a free open government. An audit of Missouri’s comprehensive financial report for 2023 found billions of dollars in errors. We must correct these errors and ensure there is full accountability for the people’s money. They deserve nothing less.
