On his Facebook page, Robinson said that he was running for the North Carolina Senate District 50 "to save our schools, bring good paying jobs, and accept Medicaid for 500,000 uninsured."[1]

Incumbent Jim Davis was unopposed in the Republican primary, while Jane Hipps defeated Ron Robinson in the Democratic primary. Davis defeated Hipps in the general election.[2][3]
