Ron Stephens (b. February 19, 1948) is a former Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives. He represented the 102nd District in 1985-1991 and in 1993 - 2011. The maps, drawn by state Democrats, drew him into the same district as John Cavaletto (R). Stephens is a pharmacist. He is a member of the American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Scouting, Illinois Pharmacist Association, Kiwanis, Lions, Metro-East Pharmacist Association, National Pharmacist Association, Optometrists, Shriners, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).[2]

DUI conviction

On the night of March 15, 2010, Stephens was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. A breath test by Decatur police showed he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.101 percent. Stephens posted $100 bond and was released.

In response to the incident, Stephens stated, "I exercised poor judgment that evening, and I am truly sorry for my actions. I also regret having disappointed my family, friends and those I represent. I take full responsibility and stand ready to face the consequences of my actions."[7]

On May 11, Stephens pleaded guilty to DUI, was sentenced to one year supervision and had to pay $1,410 in fees and court costs. Additionally he was ordered to refrain from drinking for one year and his drivers license was suspended from April 30 to October 30.[8] Instead of state regulators revoking his pharmacy license, Stephens agreed to submit to random drug testing for one year.[9]
