Ronald G. Matekaitis

Ronald G. Matekaitis was a judge of the 23rd Circuit Court in Illinois. He was elected to this position on Nov. 6, 2012, becoming one of the first judges on the court. He replaced retiring Judge Kurt Klein of the 16th Circuit to become the circuit judge of DeKalb County. His current term expires in December of 2018.[1][2]
Education
Matekaitis received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Northern Illinois University in 1982 and 1985, respectively.[3]
Career
Matekaitis is a former alderman for the City of DeKalb, Ill., member of the DeKalb County Board and attorney for Waterman, Kirkland and DeKalb. In 2000, he became the DeKalb State's Attorney. He served until 2009, when he was appointed an Associate Judge of the 16th Circuit Court. He was then elected Circuit Judge of the 23rd Circuit Court in 2012.[4][5][4]
2012 election
Matekaitis was elected to the newly-created 23rd Circuit Court. He defeated William P. Brady on Nov. 6, 2012 with 52.0% of the vote. He was unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012.[1][6][2]
