Ronald Thurman is the chancellor for the Thirteenth District Chancery Court in Tennessee. The court presides over Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, and White counties in Tennessee. He was elected to the court on August 3, 2006, to replace retired Chancellor Vernon Neal, and he took office on September 1, 2006. Thurman was re-elected on August 7, 2014, for another eight-year term expiring in 2022.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Thurman ran for re-election to the Thirteenth District Chancery Court.
Primary: He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 6, 2014.
General: He defeated J. Lee Burgess in the general election on August 7, 2014, receiving 53.6 percent of the vote. [5][7][6]

Education

Thurman received his undergraduate degree from Tennessee Technological University in 1981 and his J.D. degree from Memphis State University in 1984.[2]

Career

Thurman worked as an attorney in private practice for twenty-three years before his election to the Thirteenth District Chancery Court in 2006.[2]
