|Serving on the school board, Ronda developed the unique ability to reach out to individuals, businesses and community leaders. She brings focus and vision to the needs of citizens of all ages and abilities. Working in Olympia as a member of the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA) Legislative Committee and Chair of WSSDA Small School Advisory Committee, has given her a clear view of the inner workings of our government. She has an in-depth understanding of state education spending which comprises 52% of the state operating budget. Ronda's experience advocating in Olympia has showcased her ability to reach across the aisle to create bipartisan solutions. As a small business owner Ronda has experienced the impacts of excessive government regulations and understands the importance of a balanced budget. As we face difficult issues such as restarting the economy, affordable health care, mental health supports, transportation, and education, she believes that a careful prioritization of current revenues will eliminate the need for increased or new taxes. She will stand boldly against an income tax.
- FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Create a robust economy that protects businesses, employees, citizens and taxpayers by prioritizing state spending and strongly opposing a state income tax.
- SAFE RETURN TO SCHOOL: We must provide an efficient, effective ,and safe pathway back to school; ensure Washington students receive top-notch instruction and provide families with rich online learning alternatives, so students do not fall behind.
- PROTECTING OUR WAY OF LIFE: I will stand for family values, law and order, small business, and property rights. We need to ensure affordable housing, quality healthcare and mental health treatment for people of all walks of life.
As a small business owner that has been deemed non-essential and having lived through the great recession, I know first-hand the impact government policies have on your ability to succeed.
We need a Senator that has felt the burden of being responsible for an employee's paycheck and knows the impact a recession will have on business. My personal experience gives me a perspective that will benefit the 2nd district. In times of financial crisis, we cannot afford to continue to subsidize bad legislation. We must prioritize spending and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of government programs. Looking at additional taxes to right a sinking ship is not the correct approach. We need to find ways to lighten the load for families and businesses by providing incentives, enabling them hold on a little longer. Policy makers should focus on stimulating the economy by addressing regulatory reform, deferring quarterly taxes and putting a freeze on government hiring and budget increases.
