Ronnie Abrams is a judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. She joined the court in 2012 after a nomination from Barack Obama. At the time of nomination, Abrams worked as special counsel for pro bono at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP.[1][2]

Education

Abrams received her B.A. in 1990 from Cornell University and her J.D. in 1993 from Yale Law School.[3][1]

Abrams was nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York by President Obama on July 28, 2011.[2] Obama commented on the nomination:

I am honored to put forward these highly qualified candidates for the federal bench. They will be distinguished public servants and valuable additions to the United States District Court.[3][4]



Abrams was rated Substantial Majority Qualified, Minority Well Qualified by the American Bar Association. She had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary committee on October 4, 2011, and you can find her Committee Questionnaire available here and her Questions for the Record available here.[5]

On Thursday, March 22, 2012, Ronnie Abrams was confirmed by the United States Senate to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York with a vote of 96-2.[6]
