Rose Ledet (Democratic Party) is a judge for the 1st District of the Louisiana 4th Circuit Court of Appeal. She assumed office in 2010. Her current term ends on December 31, 2030.
Ledet (Democratic Party) won re-election for the 1st District judge of the Louisiana 4th Circuit Court of Appeal outright in the primary on November 3, 2020, after the primary and general election were canceled.
Education
Ledet earned her undergraduate degree in communications from Loyola University in 1979 and her law degree from Loyola Law School in 1985.[1][2]
Career
Ledet began her career as an assistant city attorney. Soon after, in January 1986, she joined the law firm of Berrigan, Litchfield, Schonekas, and Mann. She continued to serve part-time in that capacity when she was appointed Clerk of the First City Court in August of 1989. She was elected to the 41st Judicial District in 1999.[3] She served until her election to the Court of Appeals in 2010.

Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.
