The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 20, 2014. Daisy Josefina Baez was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Erik Fresen was unopposed in the Republican primary. Fresen defeated Baez and Ross Hancock (I) in the general election.[5][6]
